Hey guys I have a 2003 ford escape and it whines when I try to rev it in park and will not rev past 2500 rpm. This only happened after I cleaned the engine bay. Any help would be much appreciated.
Curious to know the process you used - Pressure wash, scrub brush, spray and rinse.....
So I figured it out. I pressure washed my engine. There was a code for cam position sensor and random multiple misfire detected. So I took out the o2 sensors and sure enough it drives great now. Well loud and still sluggish but good enough. Putting new cats in tomorrow morning. Thanks for the help@
Being an 03, I would take a serious look at the COP's (coil on plug) for small hairline cracks. My 02 had cracks and would fail in extremely humid weather. For the cost of new COP's, it might be a worthy purchase considering the age of yours.
COP failure allows raw gas into the CAT which, when it burns, causes the CAT medium to fail at the leading edge (engine side) and the flakes will plug the CAT.
Being the 3.0L, you should have a really good idea of their condition by examining the front ones. Easier to access....
