transmission swap

i found a 1998 a40d out of an e-350 with a 5.4 triton. will this bolt up and work on a 1989 f-350 with a 460 and a40d transmission

There is no such thing as an a4od. It's an E4OD.

A transmission from a 5.4L will not bolt to a 460. You need to find another trans from a 460.

Thanks mark and your right I'm thinking automatic 4 speed overdrive instead of electronic 4 speed overdrive

Roflmao !! I hear you I didn't think they would but had to ask anyway so could I use one from a 95-97 460 ?
