Manual Hub Question

What happens to the manual locking hubs if you leave them turned in the 4x4 position but dont engage them Does it cause wear on them?

I don't know specifically but, growing up in Maine, we'd lock them in come December and leave them locked in till spring and never had any issues.

It won't wear out the hubs or anything else. The front differential and driveshaft will be spinning so you'll loose a hair of fuel economy from driving that extra stuff, probably not enough to measure. That stuff will also experience some amount of wear since it's moving, but it's pretty inconsequential since there's no load being put on them.

All my Jeeps have solid hubs from the factory, can't unlock them, so obviously Jeep decided that unlocking hubs is pointless.
