Has anyone ever thought of taking a fullsize bronco and converting it to 2wd using f-150 parts and maybe lowering it a bit. It would be kinda like a truck but shorter wheelbase so it would proally hook up better off the line. Just thought it would look kewl.
While it's possible a few of them were ordered in 2wd configuration it's almost impossible to find them, kinda like the few that had Diesels in them. As for changing them over i have seen two of them, one was racing the pike's peak run and the other was a Lightning/Bronco hybrid. So it can be done it will just take some reengineering and some major mods like changing the engine crossmember.
I also have seen a two wheel drive Bronco, being from GA, it may be regional thing because of the lack of snow and adverse weather conditions in the southern states. Who knows, but they did make'em. DW
This gets brought up every once in a while. Ford never made a full size 2wd Bronco. Not that it would have been impossible for someone to convert one, understand.
If someone owns what they think is a factory 2wd Bronco, I'd like to see the build sheet or window sticker.
All full size Broncos came from the factory with 4WD.
All full size Broncos came from the factory with a removable top.
That is a fact
And yes you can defonatly convert one to 2WD for street use but let me paint a little picyure for you.
You are sitting on the line in your built street 2wd Bronco
Some other guy is sitting next to you in his 600ci strker moter,d Bronco with a 200hp nitrouse kit and he has 33" sliks on all four wheel's and he is in 4 hi.
Who do you think would have better lounch caricteristics.
Good grief...the 2WD rumor demon is up to his old tricks! Gacknar has it right! End of story. If anyone has seen a converted one, they have witnessed the desecration of an icon. They were ALL 4WD when they left the factory. Got proof FROM FORD that I'm wrong, then SHOW ME. Otherwise accept the fact that the Bronco is, was, and ever shall be a born 4x4. To have manufactured them in any other configuration would have defeated the entire marketing strategy Ford had for them. The Bronco is a big strong horse that can go where any big strong horse can go. Why else call it a Bronco?! Don't know why I'm even bothering to argue this point its moot. Some one will always swear they know where there is one or that they have one from the factory....it just wasn't done. Conversion to 2WD would be like converting a 63 Mustang to 4x4...might look cool to some but its a crime against automotive history to do it. Want a vehicle that can do 11 second quarters, buy that Mustang and race it...it was designed with the intent of getting up and hauling AXX. Hence the MUSTANG nameplate.....Still a horse but a lot faster. Want a little car that has yet to mature? Try a Pinto...the names were rather appropriate if you stop to think about it. So many horses from the same stable...each with its own unique abilities.
