Hi, I Have a question or two? I want to do the MAF conversion on my 92 f-250 with a 460 and the c-6 auto. I have been reading a lot on the subject and have come to about this understanding.
Most people use a Mustang computer, some are set up for #24 injectors. I wonder if any other models would have the right computer and wiring?Plenty of old police cars and Ford sedans at the pull it yard. Read something here about e350 vans having a decent EEC Unit?It would be better for now if i didn't have to reprogram the computer. I see new MAF units,(eBay)80mm is what I understand that i need.Would I have to make sure they are for the right year for the 60pin.? I guess newer trucks have that 120 pin setup so I need to stay about pre-1994? I also may buy a simple harness kit to lay along the current one. My truck has dual oxygen sensors on the cat. converter.Would I still need to add another oxygen sensor?
Sorry for all the rambling questions.
I'll be watching this closely for I'm getting ready to do this same thing on my 91 302 E4OD. I however looked into a MAF conversion kit. I don't want to be messing around at the junk yards and so-forth to get what I need just to find out I grabbed something that's no good.
I googled MAF Conversion Kits and got a descent amount of info for brand new kits.
I'm in the same boat, Only mine is a 351w standard . I am trying to be somewhat budget conscious so I purchased a Remanufactured MAF ECU, Mustang A9L for less than half the price that the Mustang guys want for a used unit on eBay. I am following the 88-93 mustang EEC Pi out to modify my harness, seems pretty easy actually but I am still waiting on suggestions for a good MAF meter as I will get a new one when the time comes. If you have an automatic tranny I suggest you read a build thread on the bronco forum but a guy that did a conversion on a 408 stroker with an auto tranny.
Google "FSB Seattle 408 Stroker build" and start reading. That guy did an awesome write up on his build with a MAF conversion on a high performance engine.
What your options are really depends on what you're power goals are with the truck. if you are going to make substantial air mods that will require a tune, then you can just use a mustang computer and calibrate it for whatever injectors you use, and then tune for the mods. If you are staying stock on power and you don't want to get it tuned then you'll have to either shell out a little more up front for a kit, or find a cali model.
Ive searched before on this subject and still have not found a good write up on wiring the maf into a sd truck.
Does anybody have a link to one that done on a 302/351 standard trans?
Thanks for the replies.BLD I will check out that article. The idea is a budget build so junkyard scavaging is where i am at.There should be plenty of Ford parts i can use.

Have you read the FordMuscle.com article: Big Ugly Work Truck? I used a kit but this article seems pretty thorough.
Most of the articles i have read talk about getting parts from a Mustang.I just don't see many at the wrecking yard.Plenty of crown vicks though.I read a post here that talked about how an E-350? had a good computer for this?
So others have used a newer MAF And harness complete? I guess this is a 120 pin computer.
These guys make a harness setup that supports the E4OD as well. I just ordered mine, decided ditching the carb idea for efi would be worth it with my current plans with the truck. gonna save the carb stuff for the ranger I got.
