Yeah I'm running ndash with Spartan tunes. I tuned it to delete the emissions crap. No dpf or egr on my truck. 5 stage shift on the fly as well. Whole new truck, runs wicked, good power, no throttle dampening, or torque management. That was my original goal but I was happy to see if I needed a little extra speed for a sec or two it was there. Don't race my truck either but have been slightly over the limiter to pass a bunch of vehicles from time to time. I do my racing in my supercharged 2011 coyote mustang. My mustang drive shaft doesn't blow apart at 140mph either, cool vid thou. Nice vette by the way.
Thanks; I will check it out.
I am a Ford guy, but bought the Vette to run it at the Silverstate open road race in Nevada because of the aerodynamics and supercharger. Then they changed the rules to include a full roll cage, and I did not want to go that route, so now just race it at Thunder Hill road course.
New Mustangs like yours with the coyote engine and supercharger have been tuned to over 1,000 hp. WOW...
Our Vette dynoed at 530 hp at the wheels, so it is around 622 hp at the crank. Because of the great aerodynamics, we should be able to hit 200 mph even with only 622 hp. I have only had it to 178 mph on the track. Not enough room to get close to 200 mph.
I have nothing useful to add, other than some simple mathematics to ponder over if it means anything. What I will say though, is getting up to the speed limiter on these trucks happens awfully quickly and easily, not to mention the rate of acceleration and vehicle speed sure doesn't seem nearly as perceptible as it would, in say a Mustang or other smaller vehicle going similar speeds and accelerating at similar rates. This, I suspect would be one of the reasons why the thread starter is curious about being to disable the vehicle speed limiter.
On my personal vehicle, a 2016 F-250 XLT CCSB 4x4 6.7L equipped from the factory with 3.55 gears and LT275/65R20 tires, here are some stats to think about. When I reach the speed limiter (95 mph/153 km/h) on my truck, the engine is spinning at 2240 RPMs in sixth gear. Remember these trucks are equipped with a six speed automatic where fifth and sixth gears are overdrive ratios. This means that the driveshaft is spinning FASTER than the engine when operating in fifth and sixth gears. So, at 2240 RPMs my driveshaft is spinning at 3323 RPMs if I did my math correctly (sixth gear is 0.674:1).
These engines' maximum governed no load engine speed (or "redline") is 3800 RPMs. This means if the speed limiter were disabled, this truck could theoretically reach a terminal speed of 161 mph (260 km/h) assuming engine output is sufficient to reach the redline in sixth gear!!! With 440 bhp and 860 ft-lbs, it likely wouldn't have too much difficulty achieving it. But back to the driveshaft speed. At 3800 RPMs in sixth gear, the driveshaft would be spinning at 5638 RPMs!!! And to Mark Kovalsky's point, are the driveshaft u-joints, and hanger bearings able to withstand those kind of RPMs? I doubt it.
Sorry guys but I am going to need to call you on it.
All the guy asked for was how it could be done. Listen to yourselves lol! To explain to him that it is illegal on the road, dangerous for a 4 ton vehicle to travel at that fast, tires are not rated, and he doesn’t have written approval from his mom is a little pathetic, don’t you think? - Dude is an adult with a 70k Truck and a modded Vett in the driveway. I would be more nervous about the teenager who threw 45s on his 2000 Superduty in the driveway and is now doing 70 on a country highway roads to see how it handles. If our trucks would explode into a fireball at 96 mph they would have put the limiter at about 50.
Perhaps this guy just wanted to take the speed limiter off because he doesn’t like to be told what to do by hand-wringing authoritarian types who can’t sleep at night thinking about how to add more rules to our lives – that reason is enough for me. Ya’ll who are comfortable in that world scare me a lot more than this guy and his speed limiter.
I have a confession, I did 35 in a 30 yesterday while not wearing a seatbelt driving the family to pick up a Christmas tree and as everyone in the family wanted to go we had to squeeze 4 teenage kids into the back seat , gasp, without seatbelts. I know I put a lot of people at risk in a 4 ton vehicle, we all laughed and had a lot of fun but it was a disaster waiting to happen. Livin on the edge…
Maxtor, when (not if) you crash and kill someone doing 97 mph in a pickup on a two lane road, what are you going to say to excuse your behavior? Where are you going that requires that kind of speed? This is not disrespect. This is the voice of reason. My comments are not aimed at you alone. There have been multiple posts here where guys think 90+ mph in a superduty is not fast enough. Save it for a closed course. The rest of us want to arrive safely.
Can you name some of the places you were headed where you would have felt safer if you could have exceeded 97 mph? Help us understand your situation.

Yeah but he forgot about the other 2 brands of 8-ton trucks that also have owners who remove the limiter. But the world is a little safer with OP not removing his, am I right?
I hope none of you are deleted because you're (illegally) putting everyone living on Earth "at risk".

Seriously though, Can you guys “Man-up” a little?
Not to worry. On every forum you find people who write before thinking. I refer to them as "ROCKS" because their IQ's approximates rocks. No sense getting into a philosophical joust with the sanctimoniously handicapped. Just smile and let them rant. 35 mph in a 30 mph zone ,,heaven forbid. LOL...Get prepared to be excoriated by the rocks.
By the way, I have been a rock myself in the past. Probably most of us have been guilty of writing before thinking.

Here is our 1,017 hp Ford with nitrous. 767hp normally aspirated. I have had a little experience driving at 97 mph plus.
For all you rocks, this car is driven on the drag strip only.
That's a sweet ride man. My coyote isn't too crazy, it's running a 2.3 whipple, long tubes, 123mm intake, id1050x with a bap. Only around 8psi right now due to Crappy 91oct fuel. Might add meth this next summer, or some race fuel and dial her up a bit. Haven't dyno'd it yet but I would think it would be in the 550-575hp range. I was actually looking for a c5 z06 with a blower like yours when I stumbled across the mustang. Pretty happy with it thou.
Maxtor, I really ain't trying to ruffle your feathers. I believe many of us (including me) have vocalized a bad plan and hopefully when we do there is someone there to kindly ask us to reconsider. That's my message here. And I ain't saying don't speed (not sure the top speed you're going for other than >97mph) just not so fast in public.
As for any of you that think it would be better if we could drive any speed we want, rules spoil our fun, etc etc, that sounds great as long as you are one of the few driving crazy. The reason you can get by is because most of us follow rules meant for our safety. None of you are more important than the person or people sharing the road with you. And nobody wants to be an unwilling participant in your reckless behavior. Sounds cool to ignore rules until someone takes something or someone from you.
If one of you is involved in an accident, regardless of the circumstances, what will you possibly say before a judge to justify 100mph or more...especially in a pickup?
Some people’s kids. Forscan might get it, but a tuner will and might as well get rid of the rest of the crap, if you can. Once or twice, here or there, most likely going to be ok. Spending much time over and you might want to think about a replacement speed rated driveline and some different tires. These guys can get a driveline for you Driveshaft Specialist Inc and Nitto 420s are an H rated tire. The other issue is that if you have a sunroof, it will rattle somewhere around 120-130. Have fun, be safe and respect the safety of others.
Jesus, give it a rest already. Since this thread is beyond ruined I'll ask about the vette. Which blower are you running on it? What all else is done to it?

Sure like your Mustang. Good choice.
Vortech supercharger, new clutch, larger injectors, higher volume fuel pump, inter cooler, and a few other goodies, all from A&A Corvette in Oxnard Ca.
They installed their kit and did the dyno runs.

It's time for you to give it a rest.
If you read my posts you would see that I only want to get around that last car without loosing power.
Take the time to read my posts.

As I wrote earlier, I am not out to hit any speed. I just want power while I am passing cars. When you start around that last car and all of a sudden your engine looses power, it is not good. My normal cruise speed is 70mph on the freeway. At that speed often I am in the way of most of the traffic. But I don't care, so I ride along in the slow lane. Passing a group of cars on a two lane road out in the country, you need to get by the last one before any on coming traffic comes.
