Hope this is the right forum, did a search and didn’t get anything.
I have a ‘16 250 crew cab 4x4. When researching prices there was an option for aux. tank. Under the fuel door I see a blank where it seems the filler tube would go.
Anybody ever add in the aux tank? Was it a pain or the pretty straight forward? How many gallons is it?
Well I’m not sure that the blank is actually for a gasoline auxiliary tank. I looked far and wide for a stock option but it seems Ford now goes with a single larger gas tank in order to simplify the emissions equipment without multi port valves that potentially fail.
ill be completing my delayed auxiliary tank project this weekend for my 2017. Adding an additional 30 gal tank aft-of-axle. Full write up to follow...
You may also want to look at ATI (aluminum tank industries). They sell DOT compliant gas auxiliary tanks in various sizes but they take up bed space.
The only option would be a tank from a cab chassis, they are mounted where your spare tire is mounted. Cab chassis have a narrower frame so the tank can't be where it normally is.
