What is this plug?!

Found it hanging under my 4x4 relay box

looks like an air sensor... from the air box or air filter to throttle body inlet.

Yes it looks like Intake Ait Temp sensor....do you have a cold air intake system?

Some people leave these out...

Have an aftermarket intake filter and box but not cold air... does it need to be hooked up like will it cause problems?

if its aftermarket,you probably dont have a place to plug it into.....I’m not really sure of the consequences of Not having it..

maybe someone will chime in.....I’m a stock type of a guy....” getting older, and dont care anymore”

It's a stock sensor for the air box, if you have an aftermarket airbox fitted you only have to drill a hole and add a rubber grommet and fit the sensor in place, so long as the sensor did belong to the truck.

If you have anything other than the stock air intake just get it near the air filter. If you have the stock it will have a place for it.

I zip-tied mine to the master brake cylinder when I did the 6637 mod.
