I have a question about the MAC air intakes, I was wondering if anyone knows if the one for a 99 f150 5.4L is a true cold air intake, meaning does it come with a sealed box that mounts to the the hole in the fender where the stock one goes rather then just sucking air in from the engine bay. I have an airaid intake that just sucks the warm air from the engine bay and I want to get a true cold air intake, I know that Volant makes one but they are pretty expencive. If anyone knows for sure let me know. Thanks.
Yeah I have looked at the pic and it doesn't appear to have a box. I know that some MAC cold air intakes accually have a box like for the mustange, I thought there was a chance they could have just used a pick of any intake system to give a general idea of what it looked like.
As far as making a box for it I'm not sure how I would do it. I would need to use a material that could withstand the head under the engine so it wouldn't melt. I was going to see if I could somehow put my original box over the air filter and reattach it to the wheel well but my dad cleaned out the guarage where I had it in a box and he threw it away, he didn't bother looking in the box at all he just threw it away because it wosent heavy, I am kinda mad about that but what can you do.
Anyone know for sure on the intake system or have any ideas on making a box?
