I ordered the deluxe injector rebuild kit from 406 Injectors.
Also ordered their injector tool kit.
The plan is to simply rebuild my stock injectors. While I considered going with the 80% nozzles the uncertainty of whether I would need a custom tune or not prevented me from taking that leap.
The truck runs great when warmed up but in this cold weather it runs rough until warm. Buzz test showed my #2 injector to be the nearly silent one while the rest sounded about equal.
Kit should be here by the end of the week so I am planning to dive into this job after the weekend.
for the life of me I can't remember how to do a buzz test (I know there is an app for android but forget the name), any one have the name of the app, also would like to get the steps, I want to make sure im not dealing with a bad injector on Enigma....
I've read that thread and watched the video on injector rebuild. Makes me v think I can tackle it to. Good luck bud....Car Gauge Pro app is what I use the buzz test and CCT
I've been looking at the 406injectors stuff for a while. I was "distracted" a bit this year or I would have likely been at Mark's and tried some of these.
Great information there. Thanks guys.
I won't get everything I ordered until Friday. Hopefully I will be able to get into this project on Saturday.
I questioned 406 Injectors on the largest nozzle upgrade for use with a stock truck and they said 30% would be the limit.
Reading here I get the feeling 30% isn't worth the time or money.

It seems to be popular opinion these days that 160/80 is the best bang for the buck- even if you need to have a tuner dial them back a bit until/unless you build other supporting mods.
What injectors are you rebuilding? Some pics of what you have would be a nice start to your rebuild thread here

0%, 30% or 80%? That is the question. What the number means is how much larger the nozzles are over the original size (I believe that it refers to the holes in the nozzles, if I'm wrong please tell me so). I have also inquired about this with 406 injectors and others and here is what my thoughts are based on those discussions (again if I'm wrong or you see things differently, let me know). The larger nozzles permit more fuel to be injected in the same amount of time. Ms are important and according to those who know 3ms is the most you want for FIPW. So...it is logical that a bigger hole will let more fuel through in the same amount of time and if you add more fuel you will need a bigger hole to get that fuel through there in without increasing FIPW too much. Also to be taken into consideration is the need to atomize the fuel in the process and if it is not properly atomized it will not burn as well (efficiently). So..make that hole too big and your not spraying the fuel in, you are pouring it in and it will not burn right. I have no engineering background here and all I have to rely on is input from those who do and my own common sense. I have been told that an 80% nozzle will dump the fuel in if the volume of fuel is not enlarged.
I have reman splitshots with a 30% over nozzle. I like them and noticed an improvement. I bought them locally cheap is why I have them. Mine are swamps injectors. These are not popular but are better than stock in my opinion.
I had already bought tunes for my stock injectors from Gearhead so they sent me new files and they work well. I figured I would try out the swamps tunes since I have swamps injectors. I like the Gearhead better. Just loaded some from 1023 and sent a message about a little tweaking. His seem like they will be tied or better than the current Gearhead when they are sorted out.
Splitshots with a 30% nozzle will run on any stock Ford tune for stock splitshot injectors. They will also run on anyone's "custom" tune for stock splitshot injectors. I have never seen splitshots with an 80% nozzle listed for sale so I'm not sure how they would perform.
Thanks for the tag, I nearly looked over this thread!
I am in the process of installing my 160/80s at the shop currently, but when I get home tonight or when I wake up in the morning I will be sure to give you my thoughts and tips when it comes to this undertaking you are about to embark on!
