2007 F-150 5.4 4X4

I have a F-150 5.4 4x4.

I am wanting some opinions on transmission. My truck transmission has never been serviced. Truck transmission has no problems ever and is the original transmission truck has 2 hundred thousand plus miles.

transmission color looks fine.

wondering if I should change the fluid and filter Help.

Thanks:

After this long without service, i`d say the OEM Ford transmission fluid has served you and your vehicle well so why change it.

If it aint broke, don`t fix it.

Don't fix it ?????

This is really transmission abuse.. The sooner it is removed and replaced the better. I would DRAIN and REFILL after cleaning the pan. I would NOT do a pressure flush and fill. You might loosed up some crud deposits in the corners and get it mixed in the oil.

Definitely service it. Drop the pan change the filter and refill it. Don't let anyone flush it and don't let anyone tell you it shouldn't be serviced because it will loosen crud in it. That's an old wives tale.

I`m assuming you misunderstood what I meant when I said....."don`t fix it" so i`ll elaborate.

What I meant was since the OEM Ford transmission fluid has worked well and for so long in the transmission without any problems, why change to synthetic transmission fluid. Just continue to use the OEM Ford transmission fluid.

Also in my first reply, I did suggest that since it`s been so long that yes, it needs to be serviced.

Because Mercon is no longer available and Ford issued a TSB for all Mercon applications to now use Mercon V.
