Heater in e-150

i recently purchased a 2001 e150 4.2 when I turn the heat on for the first few seconds it’s good and hot then it goes lukewarm, no matter how long I drive it. I’ve flushed the heater core twice, changed actuator on the blend door, it’s working perfectly fine. Only thing I haven’t swapped is a thermostat but my scanner shows the engine to be 220 running and also the temp gauge looks to be in the right place. Anyone have any ideas tia

I bet you’re low on coolant.

How does it do right after you flush the heater core? Maybe it keeps getting stopped up. I would think blend door but you've already checked it. Mine would be lukewarm and it was the blend door needing to move just a smidge more. Its cable driven so I just move the selector back and forth a couple times to get it to slam closed. I also adjusted the cable.

Try running the engine and let it warm up to temperature. Turn the heater on and then physically feel of each heater hose where it comes out of the heater core. Are both lines hot? Do you have a a heater control valve in the line to the heater core? Parts stores show that you do. Does it have vacuum to the valve when you have the controls set to heat and vent or floor?
Is the AC compressor running with the controls set to heat, not defrost?

Both mines to the core is hot and acts exactly the same after flush, changed thermostat last night no help to it, but felt of bottom radiator hose and it was cold as ice with all other hoses hot, seems to me to be a water pump circulation problem could it be?

how hot is hot? Do you have a way to check the temperature on each line?

When you say "I turn the heat on for the first few seconds it’s good and hot then it goes lukewarm," does the temperature on the heater hose lines also change to lukewarm or do they stay hot?

Is the AC compressor running when you have the heat turned on?

Are the heater hoses too hot to keep your hand on for very long? The heater hoses and the upper radiator hose should be close to the same temperature.

The lower hose should not be "ice cold".. What is the outside temperature where you are at? If your radiator is very clean and has good flow, the radiator fan is working correctly, the bottom shoe should be luke warm at least.
You may have 2 issues... But the heater flow comes from the engine block not the radiator.
Is the engine overheating?
If you dont have one, you really need a infrared thermometer.

IF both heater hoses are too hot to hold your hands on then you have flow through the heater core and the problem is somewhere in the plenum system.. Blend door or something...

the inlet hose is to hot to keep hand on the outlet is probably roughly 15 degrees cooler I pulled one one heater hose off and started motor the water trickled a stream out at best but I’m not getting any overheating I do need to invest in thermometer thank u for ur replies also the blend door seems like it’s opening and closing right when I switch heat to cool

Rock auto lists one for your van... But they also list one for my 88 van but my 88 van does not have one.... hot coolant flows through my heater core all the time.. the temperature blend door or controls the temperature between the heater core and ac evaporator. I do not have a diagram for the 2001

Are you sure the blend door is working?

If the water from the heater core is sucked through the heater core from the water pump,,, then with one line disconnected, you would have little flow.
I don't know
about your 2001 but here is a typical water flow.

Thanks for your reply’s Annaleigh I ended up replacing water pump still no change but it didn’t have slack in it so it would be gone before long anyway. I took the heater core out and blowed it with air compressor put back in and now I have super hot heat. I guess the flushes just wasn’t loosening the gunk enough
