My 2015 F-550 with 300 miles on it came up with the Message " in 50 miles you wont be able to exceed 50mph" due to a exhaust fluid system failure, and it was correct, 50 mph is it, pulled the codes and have 17, U02A3 x10, U029Ex2, P2200. P225Bx2 and P220E. I dont have the time to take it in and wait 2 weeks at the dealer, will changing the NOx sensor fix this?
I changed the nox sensor but it went into idiol only mode, i still get 12 codes, all communication codes and p223b, is that a DEF heater failure? Can you override that? Manual says something about pushing ok?
Your situation is the same as I and many others who use these trucks for business, if you're down its big time trouble. For this reason you need to find a way to get the truck in a shop and use another (or another combination of vehicles) to get the jobs done. I learned this the hard way, gotta have a backup.
Get your 550 serviced, don't try to rig it unless someone here gives you the magic solution.
I know it stinks, I've been there, and no, these trucks are not junk or unreliable. You have a freak thing going on unless your the first in a large batch of problems with the new trucks. The def system is probably the same as the ones going back to 2011 so it's been around a while.
In my situation if my truck blows up I can be back in business within 24hrs, depending on where I am. Usually within 8-12 hours would be best case.
Yeah, goes in next week, its just frustrating to spend that much money on a truck and dont even get a full tank of fuel burned and its down. Thanks for the advise and taken
That does suck. Sorry for this issue, hopefully they will get you taken care of and you will have many happy miles with this truck.
Hang in there and let us know what they figure out.

Does it have an aftermarket bed? I know we have gotten a couple 550s at work that had the DEF systems goofed up from the aftermarket bed company. All is good with them now though. Sucks to hear it happen so soon.

Could be either the NOx or the PM module/sensor assemblies. Both modules are reporting a network failure and voltage/circuit concerns for different reasons. I have seen this or a similar group of codes before and as I recall it was one of the modules on several occasions. I have only seen a harness concern once and that was with a pick-up bed.
However, a F550 with a body installed is susceptible to all kinds of broken parts and damaged harnesses during the upfitting process. The truck needs to be thoroughly inspected and tested before condemning any part. I guess once your dealer repairs the truck we will know.
I just got my brand new 2015 F-450 about 3 weeks ago. I insisted to the dealer that I drive the new truck for the weekend before I moved all of my equipment over to the new truck from the old truck.
I told them that after the problems with my 2011 I wanted to see if there were any bugs in the new truck that needed to be fixed before I switched equipment over.

I'm glad your truck will be at the dealer soon, 2thetop. Let's get this into the hands of your regional customer service manager as well. To make that happen, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll push this up the chain.
1st I would do is get face to face with Svc Mgr. Its a 550, you are not towing you Jon Boat around and you imply this is how you make your living..ANY Svc Mgr will put you at the head of the line right then.
I know down where I live one of these ranchers have an issue and tell the Svc mgr Fri at 4 am I haul cattle to the auction, I NEED this truck. My dealer will break their back to help you get those cattle to auction. If your dealer won't, find a dealer that will.
My 2015 6.7 did the same thing with 427 miles on it just last week. Luckily, I was in a major city and 5 miles from a dealer. They had me fixed up in about 3 hours. They had to re-calibrate the diesel exhaust particulate sensor. Mechanic said he's seen several like that. Got back home and my dealer mechanic said he'd seen some, too.
My 2015 just turned 5000 miles on it this week and it's only 5 weeks old. Pulling away from the house this morning I had a alert on the dash say Exhaust Fluid Level 500 Miles til Empty or something of that sort. Stopped at 7 Eleven for coffee, started it back up and it said the level was ok. Ran it the rest of the day without any problems. I swear if this 2015 ends up anything like my 2011 was I'll run the thing off a cliff, I'm not going to put up with it this time.
