With as much searching as I have done, I cannot find a conclusive wiring diagram for this light. The only one I did find looks relevant but some colors are different. The problem is, this light housing only has 2 wires going to it. (which broke straight off the 2 connectors once I released it from the headliner) But when I look at the back of the light housing, there is a three prong male plug that was unused. The 2 wires which did lead to the light are Black/lt blue (-)Ground AND Green/ orange (+) positive (lead from door switch?).
By the way, this dome light is the one with the map lights under the same lens as the dome light.
Other information I have gathered says the glove box, engine compartment and dome light are on the same fused circuit #8. All of which do not work anyways. Fuse is good.
I would assume since the dome light comes on with a different circuit, that the map lights do indeed have a different wire than the Green/orange wire alone.
My plan is to see if I can disconnect the 3rd brake light and fish out the harness down to the driver rear speaker because I cannot see anything else hanging around that dome light mounting hole. Although, When I do feel the harness from where the speaker is, It does not feel like more than just a few wires...
I may end up getting a whole new dome light assembly, and running new wires to a toggle switch instead of relying on whatever is already there (or missing).
Also worth mentioning >> The headlight switch was overheated and melted the plug at the Red/yellow wire. Looks like that feeds the headlight. I have a new connector today Ill be splicing in. Hopefully the switch itself is salvageable. Headlamps work, HI LOW, parking lights all work. Even with the damaged connector.
Doesn't the Dome light work off the Main Light Switch, as well as the door switch ?
I think all the Dome/Map lights gets power from the same fuse, I would try another. But check the wire from the fuse box to the first junction/splice for power.
There is no ground "wire", the light grounds through the roof. One wire is constant hot for the map lights, the other is switched power for the dome light.
YELLOW = Constant
RED = Switched
BLUE = Ground I hope this works as I think it is the light you have.
Hey thanks Robert, that's exactly what I was looking for.
The two leads coming out of the hole were really badly attached only 2-3 inches up with electrical tape..jeez
So, I got some butt connectors and reattached to the old wires, and then I copied the picture there with the ring connectors. But I took the wires through the 4th screw hole that wasn't circled. Then I temporarily connect it to the harness without mounting it. And I attached a spare piece of wire to the ground connection to test.
