Anybody made progress on their side trim moldings? I got mine pulled off to see what I was dealing with underneath. Based on the attached pictures, the previous, and original owner had the truck painted along the way. It was originally Rangoon Red/Wimbledon Wht. Now its Candy Apple Red/Wimbledon. My truck spent most of its life in Rosemead, CA. That clean livin' did the body right. Still looks like new. Here in the Midwest, it would have been rotted away many decades ago.
Anywhooo, when they painted it, it looks like they didn't put the proper trim clips back on based on Number Dummy's parts post for the 67/69 bodies. However, it looks like the very rear clip is correct. I got some part ordering to do.
Has anybody gotten theirs drilled out, and replaced yet?
My pass side bed trim came in the bed of the truck when I bought it. All the clips broke and the one metal wing by the tailight has caught me 3 or 4 times now. . Ehh but my paint job is crap, will have to order those clips and try it.i won't mind if I scratchy.
I just installed the three clips with nuts and springs that go on the leading edge and by the door on the front (passenger-side) fender. I'm probably the only one dumb enough, but in case anyone else thinks like I do... I assumed that you mount the clip to the fender first, then snap the molding onto the clips. Wrong! Install the clips into the molding first. You can slide them to the correct positions (albeit with some difficulty). Then install them on the fender, and put the nuts on the ends of the bolts.

Mountaineer, this good to know information . I was wondering myself which way the trim went on. Did you feed it from back to front?

It’s like a cam gear, you’ll put it in sideways, turn it until the tabs set in the trim and the spring piece will set in the trim on the adjacent side to “hold” it in place. Simple engineering actually.
Drilling out the pop rivets....
Once you start to drill, the head will spin on/in the plastic clip. It helps to hold it with side cutters. Actually there was one truck I spun out the plastic and just cut the pop rivets with the side cutters and ran a magnet down the inside of the bed thru the trap door near the rear tail light.
Don’t over think it, it’s real easy.
So, I have been wondering which size trim I have. It's obviously not the 3" wide molding on the 70-72's, but, I thought I had read about 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" trim for the 67-69's. Is there only one size actually?
I assumed I had the 1 1/2", but, it actually measures closer to 1 1/4". I only found one size of the plastic trim clips and end clips at Carpenter for the 68-69's, and it says 1 1/2" on the Carpenter website.
They are part #'s: C8TZ-8129318-A (trim clip) and C8TZ-8129316-A (front and end clips). Are these the right ones?
Edit: I should note my truck was actually built in Sept. or Oct. of '67. So, maybe it got an oddball trim size. It also does't have the side marker lights which were mandated for '68 models, later in the model year. Got some other interesting '67 pieces also such as hood support brackets mounted to the firewalls that I understand later '68's didn't have.

Is there only one size actually? There are two different widths: 1 1/4" & 1 1/2"
