Man that engine is pretty clean. And I notice what appears to be a points ignition. I guess out in the Mexican desert, you don't need no stinking electronic ignition giving you any guff! I see the point gap specs on the valve cover sticker.
Also, look at the alternator. It looks different than what I'm used to seeing. The case is smooth.
And the warranty plate lists the engine code at the top, so does that mean that the engine is not denoted in the VIN?
As cool and unusual as your truck is, I wouldn't change a thing. I might even go back to stock wheels & tires. Any modifications you make to it will likely detract from it, not add to it.
This has to be one of the most awesome dents I have ever seen. The brush guards you took off look really serious. I'm sure there are members here who would love to have them on their 4X4 or other high ground clearance vehicle.
Given your intent to lower it, this removal was a step in the right direction.
The only other appearance customization suggestion I could make is to do something with those mirrors. They just don't look right.
To me, the rarity/uniqueness of this vehicle cries out for a resto-mod approach. Modernize the mechanicals, electronics, stance etc. but keep the basic appearance close to stock. Whatever you do in these change areas, few will know that it didn't come that way if it's done right.
Major mechanical mods would include replacing the front suspension with an IFS such as the ever popular Crown Vic swap, going to a BBF such as the 460/C6 and replacing the rear suspension with an IRS such as the T-bird swap kit or converting the 9" to disks and a bolt pattern that matches the IFS. I'lll leave the major electronics to other, more knowledgeable folks here. Finally, subtle changes to the paint and upholstery scheme might be another avenue to explore though I really like what's already there. Having the original paint and upholstery scheme will only add to the "What the heck, is this an unrestored original?" mystery.
Ford should have built those in the states and called them the Bronco Excursion. Did you import it to the US or is it still in Mexico?
I agree on the mirrors and resto-mod. Leave the body alone and upgrade the drivetrain. Maybe a new 5.0L with matching transmission, lowered and a disc brake 9 inch limited slip.
Ultimately we can mearly tel you what we like and this is your project. So my suggestion is do what you want.
What an incredible find and such great condition. I also would lean toward stock but those ugly gold modular look wheels would have to go and the jungle gym thing on the front so that was a good start. Maybe some 15x7 and 15x8 steelies to get a little more tire and find a nice set of original stainless dog dish caps. That's just my personal preference.
Thank you for the suggestions! My thought was the same as far as going the restomod approach. I’m even ok with the original paint color. I was thinking of the dream beam and lowered hanger/shackle because then it can be put back to stock by a future owner if I ever decide to sell it.
I have a house in Monterrey Mexico so I have the truck there now but will do the import process to Texas whenever I need to. I am thinking of doing it as a build for SEMA 2018. I have done several other vehicles for SEMA and I really enjoy the time there.
Oh man that thing is cool as hell. What to do for mods? Thats a loaded question... Seeing something like this fills my head with so many custom ideas. Shave the driprail? I'd love to have a proper 4th door on the driver's side, just my opinion, I never liked the way that weird van window sits in there. That being said, that would be a ton of custom fab b.s. for somewhat little gain, and also ruin the originality. I've known about the Mexican B100's for a while now and I think that's the cleanest one I've ever seen. Throw in an updated drivetrain of some kind - EFI 5.0 & E4OD or something, lower it like you said, maybe tint the windows & use modern-ish 92-96 mirrors - I've always thought they look killer on dents - and call it a day. Oh - and a contour rear bumper like a Bronco. Sweet truck, man. Have fun.

Thanks for sharing this!!
I looked this morning and it is definitely the same as that "Mexican Block" you showed. Thanks MeanGreen92

Thanks SuperCabTJ! DO the 92-96 mirrors cover those holes that would be left in the doors after removing the mirrors or does that mean bodywork? Are there any cool looking mirrors that could match or cover the original holes?
The hood had a Cadillac Emblem on it which I have removed (look at the original pic). The hole looks like a production hole so I think it is supposed to have a hood emblem. What would be the best hood emblem or shave the emblems?
I definitely want an overdrive automatic with fuel injection and electronic ignition but I don't like the old 5.0 passenger side intake EFI. Any OEM EFIs that are more symmetrical like an LS engine without going to the aftermarket throttle body injection systems?
