Yesterday I was driving my 2003 f150. About a mile down the road I heard some kind of a clunk, like I ran over something. Ends up that my exhaust is now loud and my check engine light came on. My truck also smell like exhaust. I do not have the code yet for the check engine light yet. I believe something fell off my truck.
Today I noticed this in the driveway below where I park my truck. It was found approximately below where my feet would be, maybe a little closer to the front. What is it? I included 2 pictures of it.
Looks like a front wheel alignment shim. If you have a shop nearby that does front end alignments, bring it in and ask them if that's what it is. If it is you'll need the front end aligned again.
That could be the remains of your DPFE sensor. Measures exhaust flow through the EGR valve.
Look for two special hi-temperature rubber compound hoses that connect from the sensor to the the length of steel tubing that has the orifice in it. The steel orifice tubing connects to the exhaust manifold and EGR. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
