Door Gap size

What is the "correct" door gap size 1/8 in? I need to hang some doors that came off another truck. I want to make some spacers to get it right. But I can't measure my truck since the original doors are gone.

I don't think that there is "correct" gap size. My passenger door has about 1/4" all of the way around. I can slip my pinky finger in the space. My driver door has 1/4" on the front, bottom, and top edge, but almost 1/2" on the back side. If I evenly space the gap front to back, I can't get the door latch to line up very well at all.

1/4 or 3/16 is normal for 60s era cars and trucks .
wood dowel from hardware store makes a good "tool" to check evenness .

Concur.

Personally, I'd be more on the 3/16th side. Whatever ya end up with, aim for consistency so it looks "right".

Some times doors get adjusted to cut down on the noises seal draft.

I use a piece of printer paper placed in between the seal an door then close the door on the paper.

Work the paper all the way around the seal an find the less sealing areas by pulling the paper back n fourth to the less drag on the paper.

But best to install new door seals first.

If you have a tranny jack works pretty good to support the door.

Plus it's best if there's two guys to get them line up as it's not the easy task.

Also make sure the hinge pins & bushing are new as well.

There's a lot of give and take when it comes to door gaps, seals, body crease lines, trim lines, latches, in and out, up and down, top vs. bottom, lol. Did I miss any? I envy the pro shops that do a real clean job of it.
