After I did the headlight mod, the other day I lost my dim light,to day I started checking for the problem and found that both relays had failed, replaced them and everything is working, don't know what happened, the relays were dorman will wait and see if these hold up.
jim
That's odd. Could it be that the relays were both of inferior quality?
I guess we will have to wait and see how the replacement relays last for you.
If it is dorman, then most likely chinese junk. There are some nice sealed units (4 or 5 pin) with supression resistors that I like to use and stand up significantly better in underhood environments. Most headlight relay setups do not have any diode or resistor to reduce voltage spikes that occur with coil field collapsing when turning off relay power. This spike in voltage can ruin other electrical devices that share the trigger circuit.

I use Hella, Tyco and Bosch. If you have the correct crimping tool you can buy the seals, terminals, and shells for the plug side and make a custom harness. If not, they also make 12" leads all ready to go as part of a pigtail assembly. Waytek is where I buy electrical from.
Thanks NATE,
I might still put a clear bulb in it and see how it work.

unless China bumped up their plastc quality from garbage chit to just garbage expect any ebay or amazon clear Kenzie to yellow and soon turn to dust. Worst thing I ever did. Looked great for about a year. It's a waste of time, I spray tinted mine they looked so horrible.
on a side note a 20w spot LED pod offers more lighting than any conventional halogen, I have two sets on my wifes excursion with HIDs and projectors, they make the HIDs disappear... I have HIDs in my truck with clear lenses and they are a major improvement, but with the new led lighting I wouldn't do it again...

Same deal here. I have the clear (china) headlights in mine and I like the appearance but the build quality was a little sketchy from the get go and they're yellowing and fading now after 2 years on the truck. I would pay good money for good quality clear lenses if they were available and I really wish there was a good LED headlight upgrade out there that would work on these trucks. Is it too much to ask to be able to see at night while driving?
I have had good luck using a polyurethane/urethane protective film at least as far as slowing down weathering/chalking of lenses. They are not a substitute for a higher quality lens necessarily but at least slow down the deterioration. We have pretty bad sandblasting while driving which wears lenses faster here.
I use Xpel or other polyurethane films and install on lenses with headlight removed so I can get film wrapped around corners. I do not use the special headlight films as they are quite expensive though they are buffed to a higher degree of optical clarity.
My last set less then two years old started showing spots like they were hit with rocks. Like a spider web without the circles, strange. I got a replacement set but I'm not holding my breath.
Just curious how good this worked out for you?
I can post pics if needed, no test drive yet as truck went down for many leaks being tended to currently.
Fitment was nice, I tucked it down by the OE front harness by the AC condenser. Relays over on passenger side. My headlights are garbage fogged up, but hell, attaining full voltage to the lamps versus whatever was there before has to help still.
