Would you be so kind to help me with the engine serial number ?? for my 1FTFW1ET8DKF52809 truck?
When 8 & D are typed together, you get that smilie face...unless you disable smilies in text...like I did.
This is the VIN, it registers the entire vehicle. The only engine related code is the 8th digit.
The 9th digit is the check digit, FoMoCo use only. The 10th digit decodes to the year. The 11th digit is the code for the assembly plant.
The last 6 digits is the Numerical Sequence of Assembly, the trucks specific serial number.
17 digit VIN's introduced in 1981. Previous years, FoMoCo US VIN's contained 11 digits as did 1966/68 assembled/sold only in Canada Ford/Merc truck VIN's.

Very good catch NumberDummy!!! I've always thought you to be extremely knowledgeable in all your posts. This just adds one more.

In any event, the corrected VIN provided by NumberDummy identifies a 2013 Ford F-150 Crew Cab 4x4, Ingot Silver Metallic in colour equipped with a 3.5L Ecoboost V6 engine and a 3.31 axle ratio. The trace engine serial number for this vehicle is E1221 170613C117700977DS 364 AA. The highlighted bold portion of the numbers would identify just the serial number.
I have been trying to locate the engine number of my Ford Explorer for purpose of registration but I don’t know where or how to get it. The VIN is 1FM5K7D83DGC69224
If it's your engine serial number you are after, I may be able to find it if you don't mind posting up the VIN for this vehicle.

Further to your request, I have taken the liberty to post a picture of the decal affixed to the engine front cover of a 2019 model year Explorer to illustrate what the engine identification tag should look like:
So in the picture above, the engine ID tag would be GS 490 CA (you can't see the G). The trace serial number illustrated above would be E1221 030818C116400379GS 490 CA. Of those digits, the portion highlighted in bold in this example would be 18C116400379. Hopefully this helps.

I’m really grateful for your help. I saw these exact numbers tagged on the side of the car but I was expecting the engine number to be inscribed somewhere on the engine😀 I also saw various other numbers that got me really confused as I didn’t know what the engine number was supposed to look like. Thanks once again, super grateful.
Hi, I need the engine number of my Ford Explorer for purpose of registration but I don’t know how to get it. The VIN is 1FM5K7D9XDGB65080.
I saw in some YouTube videos that the engine number engraved on the engine is the last 8 digits of the VIN number. Which number should I use for registration?
Thanks in advance.
