All of these interchange questions can be answered by going to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and doing a part search. Look at the year and make / model of the vehicles the parts are coming out of.

99-04 is the same 4 speed auto trans and transfer case to a degree...its a 4r100 BUT the diesel uses a larger bell housing that wont bolt to the v8/10 motors. Transfer case is a manual 271 or electronic 273 which bolts to all 4wd trans no.atter of engine. Problem is you can add the 261 to a factory 273 truck u have to cut the floor and add the 4wd lever. If u add the 273 to a manual 271 truck u either have to do a complete harness swap OR do a toggle switch wiring which wouldn't be hard
Let me get deeper, in 2003 ford introduced the 6.0 diesel in some applications so that has the 5 speed auto trans but still uses the same transfer case as the 99-04 trucks. In 2005 ford changed to the 3valve gas motors and they then went to the 5 speed auto trans
I doubt it. The '99 is a four speed auto and the '04 is a 5R110 5 speed tranny. I have a '04 auto transfer but not a '99 to compare with.
FWIW, it may be just a different adapter plate to make it work but smart assed answers above are not helping you any.
well fefanatic thats fantastic info but im not asking anyone about transfer case interchange on a 99 or an 04.. im asking if a 1985 manual transfer case will bolt in on my 1993 f250 ,which has a manual 4x4 case bolted to an automatic tranny... also my apologies to you & anyone else that i have affined in my quick replies, but im just funnin … i mean come on i just asked one question and the replies i got from FTE super duty dudes was nowhere near the anser.. go back and read the replys,, how could i not come back with,, what you say is a smart assed remark... PLUS i already said i was just playin and havin a good time.

My answer was not for your question. You broke into this thread with your own question when you should have started a thread in a different forum. I was answering the OP original question. Reading is fundamental. Try it sometime.
