Interesting...so it completed while the truck was off? Mine has been 24 hours already, so I suppose I’ll see what it does tomorrow. If nothing, I’ll just do a MR and try again.

The Ford Owner website recommends a 32GB but some have used smaller thumb drives for the update with success.
If I were you, and this is what I did, just use a 32GB and call it a day.
I didn`t have any problems using said 32GB thumb drive to download 2.3 from the website and uploading it to my vehicle which only took 25-30 minutes.
I`m not sure if you have one near you but I purchased a Verbatim 32GB 3.0 SuperSpeed USB drive from MicroCenter for $9.99.

The update confirmation back to Ford/SYNC is done via WiFi even though it doesn`t say this on the website.
No need to try and do it via the USB after it`s removed from your vehicle.

Quick update: I’m sure it’s just coincidence, but when I turned off the truck last night I turned the radio off first. (Via the big power button). When I got in the truck this morning, it said the same “updating software” message, but then quickly went to the “update complete, restart” message, so it finally worked. Of note, it basically took 72 hours of total time, with approximately 3 hours of “truck running” time, to include 1 hour idling for my initial install attempt, and 2 separate 30 minute trips with the truck shut off in between. Overnight last night it seemed to finally finish up. I hope everyone else has a much smoother process.

Ford will release 3.0 to everyone when they think it`s ready regardless if it already comes stock on some new vehicles.
If you`re a rebel, 3.0 is already floating around out there in an "unofficial" capacity on some Ford Forums and many have downloaded it but just remember, it`s not "officially" released from Ford.

My truck updated itself it seems. While driving yesterday I noticed some small behavior changes with my radio, checked in settings and sure enough it says 2.3 now. I never did anything, though my auto-update is enabled and truck has wifi access in the garage.
