Over this weekend I did some research on what synthetic oil to use for my truck. I went ahead and bought the amsoil signature series 15w-40 synthetic oil. I always changed my oil at 5k miles, I’ve always used rotella with a motorcraft filter and this last time I used motorcraft 15w-40 oil and filter. Now that my oil is almost due for a change I wanted to use synthetic so I can have smoother running injectors and start up. Possibly also be able to maybe run it a bit longer like maybe 6k miles. I’m also gonna start using oil analysis too while I’m at it. Also in all my previous oil changes I did use rev-x oil additive and I am gonna use it with the amsoil also. I am also gonna use a motorcraft filter just because I prefer the oem filters for the best filtration. I was wondering if anybody is running amsoil what are your opinions on their oil? Also where can I get an oil analysis kit? As a side note my fuel filter does need to be changed. So instead of getting all in one filter with cap. I bought a new cap and filter straight from my ford dealer and what better way to change it when I change my oil. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I have run Amsoil 15w-40 for about 5 yrs until 0w-40 Rotella syn came out. Which is what I use now. Way better in the winter up north of the border, my injectors like it. and I can get It cheaper than the amsoil. both are good oils. An OA is a good thing to do just before you change the oil.
