2017 option questions
Does it detect also if a trailer is hooked up, meaning it knows that it has to allow for the extra length of the trailer and not just the truck itself.?
Or does it just allow for the truck only.
Confused on the camera options that are available.
Theres the back up camera and a Rear CHMSL camera and a ultimate trailer tow camera package available. I know what the back up camera does but whats the other two? Looking for something that works good for backing up to the trailer and getting it hooked up to the hitch.
There are 5 (viewable) Cameras -
- TAILGATE (for backing & bumper pull connections)
- CHMSL (for 5er/GN hook up)
- FRONT (Grill) and
- Side MIRRORS (for trailer backing)
The cameras operations is (too) limited -
The cameras can NOT be used on-demand
The rear cameras are only enabled when Reverse is selected
The front camera can only be used in Park or Drive
NONE of the cameras can be used above 7.5 mph
The backup camera is in the tailgate and is helpful for hooking up a bumper pull trailer.
The CHMSL camera is in the third brake light on the top of the cab and this option comes with 2 cameras. The CHMSL and the regular camera in the tailgate.
The ultimate tow camera system includes both of the previous cameras and one on either side of the truck under the side mirrors and one in the grill facing forward. These 3 cameras are for slow speed maneuvers in tight places.
There is also a customer placed camera option (with or without TPMS) for the back of your trailer. This camera will only work if you have the ultimate tow camera package with all 5 cameras.
Hope this helps.
