New ford owner

Hi ladies and gents. recently got a new to me white 2017 F250 gasser 4x4. I will have to get a picture and upload here in a little while. First and foremost is the rake and little tires have got to go. Quick search returned 1.5"-2" rough country level and somewhere around 33s would be a great size. Has the stock 18s on it so I think I'll just keep the stocks for now.

Whats everyones recommendation for tire size? 275/70r18 or somewhere around that?

idk what package you have but chances are your tires are already 33s or close to it. If you are looking for more meat id go in the 34-35 range

You want atleast a 35, with a front level 37" will fit. 37s look great. My first new set will be if I can find the right tire in a size I want to pay for.

Well here she is, xlt F250. Didn't realize the tires were already just about 33s. 33s used to be the big ones now you don't have enough tires if you don't have at least 35s. So looking at some 295/70 r18s. (34-35
ish) Don't want to absolutely kill the mpg. With that being said I'm not expecting great numbers either, otherwise I would've got a Prius. Put some hdx steps on it for now to help the wife get in and out.

Any brand of tuners to be looking at? I know there's probably several recommendations on here. Heard a lot from efi live or hp maybe? Gain a little umph and maybe an mpg or two.

Tuning the 6.2 is a debate here but 5 Star is who guys use. I have zero intentions on tuning mine, some would say gearing will benefit you more. Chances are you have 3.73s compared to the 4.30s which I have. I would suggest you check out the 6.2 section for more specific information on it

I can’t belive it’s been a whole year, time to get this done!

Still havent decided for sure on yhe tires but unless anyone objects I will be ordering a 2 inch level from rough country by the end of the week. I was going to go with the BDS kit for $450 ish then add the adjustable track bar.. but that’s almost a grand then. Not sure is worth that much.

Opinions please!

Also I don’t think putting 12.5 wides on this stock 8 wide rims is good anyone having any issues with that? I would consider 35x12.5r18 if it under NO circumstances rubs at full lock. I have started using the truck with a fish guiding business. So getting in and out of boat ramps doesn’t need to pop my tires or something crazy.

13x12.50r18 on the stock 18s look great and will not rub at full lock. Discount tire won't mount them on your 8" wide rim but a lot of other places will (Firestone, Goodyear, etc.)

I had them put the simple pucks in my front to level when I bought this and 2015 truck. No problems.
I needed to stay at 7' or less since I go through an automated car wash once a week and that's the max clearance.
I put the 295/65R20's on my truck with 20x9" wheels. No rubbing. But I'm not sure I could put tire chains on if I needed them.

Really leaning towards some 285/75r18s as there are no rims in my near future, thanks for the response!

toyo opem country extreme makes a 285/75/18- I had them on a Silverado 3500 then when I sold trust switched it to a ram 3500 with no level- no rub. The tire did/does very well in ice/snow storm and rain IMO

i found mine a bit a bit loud though and switched to nitto terra grappler on my next Tire’s and they do just as well and find them a bit quieter but that is on a 20” rim now so not sure if nitto makes a 285/75/18

Anyone know if I have to have anything else other than the 2” spacer from RC? I shouldn’t have gotten the adjustable track bar should I?

You don't need it, but if u tried it, you'd be glad you did. Especially towing.

325/65-18 on stock wheels. No lift, no level. Does not rub on front mud flaps.
As far as 5 Star, had it on (2) 6.2 F250's. 87 economy and 87 daily/tow tunes. Wasn't impressed. Sold the device and saved my money when I got the 2017. Others have had the same experience as me. Still others yet liked it and say it was worth the money. Only you can make that call.

295/65R18 are still 33” but are wider and fit nice, no rubbing. I just had to replace. What I wanted was the 295/75R18 which is a 35.4” tire. Just couldn’t get them in time, and I needed new tires. Had a rather interesting couple of days of firewood on the old tires and couldn’t wait. Luckily managed not to ding up the truck, my brothers old 2004 6.0 had to pull me up a logging road once, and backwards out of a sticky situation once in those two days. Next time maybe. For interest sake, I need the snowflake 3 peak rating and went with duratracs by good year. Immensely improved wet, snow, ice traction over the worn out GY kevlars. I had these tires on the 2005 diesel and was really happy with them.
