Hay guys. I recently got a new 4r100 super duty transmission for my 2002 7.3. The problem I am having is it will not sync. The O/D light keeps flashing, I have to put it in 1st or 2nd to lock the converter in order to drive as it won't lock out in drive. I know it needs to relearn my driving habits but I've put 1500 miles on it and it still has not. Fluids are full, all electrical connection are hooked up, all lines are hooked up (all correctly as well), gets to operating temp no overheating (as I've got the 6.0 transcooler), and 4x4 won't work. Help what do I do please?
As seville009 said, I would try the re-learning process again. Most Ford have pretty much the same re-learning curve but I would search for your YMME to make sure. Some vehicles do have an odd step in the process. From there It is possible one of the shift solenoids could be malfunctioning.
First, the 4R100 behind 7.3L does not learn anything. It does not learn your driving habits. Unhooking the battery won't do anything at all.
If you lock the converter when the truck isn't moving the engine stalls. The converter does not need to be locked for the truck to move. Since it won't move in D (that is what you're saying, right?) means the overdrive one way clutch is either bad or installed backwards. The only way to fix this is to take the trans out and tear it down.
There is NOTHING electrical that can cause this. Changing shift solenoids will not fix this.
