Winter grill cover

Just wondering if anyone is running the oem cover and if there are any pros or cons other than faster warm ups.

My wife drives 8 miles to work and back and I've never had it on but am looking at doing so to help her out with comfort.

Thanx

Denny

I've run it for years....Does help with much faster warm up...also keeps salt and crap from getting into the rad/coolers and engine bay a little better.

I've also run one for years, going only 8 miles it still probably won't get to temp, plug that baby in and put it on a timer for about 2 hours before she leaves for work, that will also help a bunch.

I have thought about buy one of these for my truck as well. Kinda read negative feelings about them. My thought was if Ford supplied them and if the cooling system is so huge on these trucks then it might be a good idea to help them warm up. I am subscribing for morenthoughts for sure. They run about $80 on eBay.

Seth, ours was packaged under the seat in the back, never used. It's definitely stock. Has the fomoco label emblazened and a ford part number. It's still in the original sheath with instructions.

I'll put it on and see what the difference is. It also states not to run it above a certain temp and speed. I'll know more tomorrow after I put it on and will try and post the nomenclature that came with it.

Thanx for the interest.

If I remember correctly your not supposed to use it above an ambient temp of 50 degrees.
My truck temp has never gone over 196 degree running my cover, it keeps everything in the engine bay way cleaner.

Seth, (crew),

I laid the installation instructions on the desk and they went out with the cleaning lady.

I do know on the tag it says, Do not use above 50 F and 32F towing.

I gleaned the net for instructions, no joy.

I'm in the garage now trying to figure it out.

Denny (they say 10 minute install) (I'll take a few extras with me).

Cover went on,

Looks pretty hearty on the rig.

Day two of running it and she said it makes a huge difference on warm up and the gauges all look good at highway speed 35 degree ambient temp out.

The Install was straight forward. Pass the straps thru the upper grill holes and clip them into the detents on the bottom of the grill from the inside. pull the adjusters to your liking of tight.

The tabs have a velcro strip 3 inches each, that you remove and place on the outer edges of the grill and than you stretch the cover to fit and bend the mating side tab (they are soft metal inside) around the velcro strips you placed on the grill.

Very easy.

Pix when she downloads.

Thanks for the update. I have my eye on one. I have a shorter trip to work as well. I need to get one of these.

Thanks Denny. I saw that. Wallet is a little tight at the moment. Hopefully within the next month.
