Your turbo is gone. Mine did this exact same thing about 3 mos ago and had to be replaced. I was just under 40k miles when it went.
If you checked the codes again, you'd probably see new one(s) for the turbo.
P1247 - Turbocharger Boost Pressure Low
P0299 - Turbocharger/Supercharger "A" Underboost Condition

 

I would pull the intake boot to the turbo and give it a look. On my 7.3 I had a chunk of aluminum fly out of the inducer, made a terrible sound similar to what you are experiencing. If it is toast, which sounds like it is, you should see either damage on the wheel or when you grab the wheel to rock it will contact the housing. This is with engine off btw...

 

If you ask me I think your Turbo is toast, that reminds me of the sound when the turbo ****s the bed.

 

Did you get it fixed??? Mine is making the same sound exactly!!

 

What year is your PSD? The earlier 6.7's, up to 2013 or 2014 I believe, had real issues with the turbos ceramic bearings failing.

2012 psd, no power loss at all. Just the siren sound

 

Recommend that you get it to a dealer before something more serious than a strange sound happens. Whatever it is its not going to correct itself.

 

Already have someone looking at It. Hopefully it’s not the turbo.

 

turbo time. Get the 2015 and up I believe it is. The increased the size of the turbo starting then and it is a direct fit.

 

Right you are, Senix. Many online shops sell a kit for the 11 to 14s that have the 15-16 turbo as an upgrade kit.

Wish the dealers would support this mod for us still on extended warranties. I baby my 2011 with 118K because of this.

 

I purchased a 2018 F350 Crew long box and have encountered the same issue you describe, Took my truck in for a checkup and explained what I was hearing and was told that they could not reproduce the symptom therefore nothing was wrong with the motor. Today I am just over 10K miles and I hear the noise pretty much all the time. I haven't gotten underneath the motor to listen as at times I think its coming from the exhaust while driving.
I will see about video taping the noise while the truck is idling and listen to hear the noise as well as look over the boot, clamps and hoses and such and I will go back into the dealership and have them listen to it if present. What really frustrates me is that they tell me they have never heard of my problem before but supposedly have the best diesel mechanic in the district and yet here I am on this forum hearing of folks who are having the same problems as I do. Go figure!
