I was running around yesterday and when I had to run back out again, my truck seemed like it was in second with the tc more unlocked with normal, with the O/D light flashing. I reversed and the truck felt fine, but would not want to go forward fast. I parked the truck and pulled a P1748 code (shift solenoid A fault). I have since pulled the pan and shift solenoid, which sounded fine when hooked to a 12v battery. I also ohmed them out, and it seemed they were all at 19.9-20 ohms. I also tested continuity through the whole trans wiring harness and everything was ok except the red power wire. This might have been because I could not get a good point of contact with it, but my question is, could no power to the solenoids give me this code? Or wouldn't it give me a solenoid B fault code as well? Can anyone offer any insight on it? I haven't been able to find much in ways of troubleshooting.
If there is no power to the shift solenoids the transmission will be in fourth gear when the shift lever is in the D position. Reverse will work normally. The truck will go forward, but it will be very slow to accelerate.
That seems to be what is happening, Mark. We just put the pan back on and our scanner is giving us no codes now, but the computer is saying it is in first when in drive but it is obviously in 3rd or 4th. Also when second gear is selected, it functions normally, but does not shift into first when selected, yet the computer thinks it is in 1st.
