Maybe the difference you're hearing is the new windows, they are laminated specifically to dampen noise. The bottom corner of your driver's side front window should have a SoundScreen logo...if I remember correctly.
The SoundScreen windshield is great. It sandwiches an ultra-clear piece of vinyl between two separate layers of glass. The vinyl cuts wind noise quite well. These windshields have been going into Super Duty trucks for awhile now, at least since the last generation.
I activate the noise cancellation in mine when I take out my hearing aids. Also helps when the grandkids are around or when I just want to get in trouble with the wife.
