Do I need a drop pitman arm?

Well I finally got the what I think is the right pitman arm for my truck after the D60 SAS... the pitman arm was a F250 and I ordered one from Amazon and although it's longer than the F250 one I'm wondering if I should have a drop arm? I don't know if the suspension is lifted... But I can see what I think is an add a leaf. And I did install a 2'' body lift...

Thoughts?

Do you NEED one? No. But you do have a pretty steep angle on that drag link (it's actually steeper than it looks because the bend in it makes it look flatter than it really is). The biggest downside is that you'll get a fair amount of bump-steer.

If it were mine, I'd put on on it.

If it were mine I'd just drive it and see if it bothers me or not. Honestly doesn't look that bad.

The lack of a Trac bar is going to cause more issues then not having a drop Pittman arm.

I'm torn... Some say I need one and some say I don't...

The shop I had my rear driveshaft repaired at thought my truck was stock suspension (keep in mind that it has a 2'' body lift) except for the add a leaf in the front.

I don't know... If it's just an add a leaf that should only give another inch or so of lift... Maybe that's why it looks like it almost should have a drop Pittman...

Then the shop that installed the pitman arm was addiment that it was either the wrong arm or that I needed a drop arm... But I didn't hold anything he said in much regard as he also said I had the wrong axle! Saying that only dodge had kingpin d60 lol

Question to Goodboy...

When you removed brackets from the old ttb axle, how did you handle the one with rivets that goes up toward the engine mount? I've seen a write up saying to cut out just the protruding part, and some not mentioning it at all.

The left bracket on the rear of the engine cross member? Just leave it there. It doesn't interfere with anything.
Though, if you are putting a factory track bar on I suspect that you may need to remove it.

Try it for a while. If you get objectionable bump steer you'll know you need a drop arm. If not, then you're good.

The very simple answer is NO. And here is why.

Your drag link is parallel with your track bar(that is what you want)

And you have an add-a-leaf which adds about 1.5". the smallest drop pitman arm is 4" so.... you would be 2.5" off
