DTE

My distance to empty with towing is higher in the towing mode than the normal mode. This does no seem logical to me.

My guess is you may have not yet pulled enough miles for the computer to get an accurate reading in both modes for it to normalize.

Over 22,000 miles. 6-8000 of that towing.

How far off are they? Does one say 100 miles to empty and the other says 500 miles to empty?

The amount shrinks as you fuel level goes down. But at 114 miles towing it was 84 normal.

Another guess may be that while in towing mode the engine and transmission are working more efficiently...shifting less often and remaining in the more efficient state more often. This could result in a better number for towing mode vs regular mode while towing.

Ok, I just filled up. DTE towing 591 miles. Normal 448

Anyone else have reasoning? I just purchased a new 17 and have no towing miles yet but see the difference in towing vs normal DTE.

I may be wrong, but I want to say the towing DTE is using a smaller sample of recent miles than normal is. Normal goes back a bit further and is a calculation based on many more miles.
