DTE- settings normal vs towing

DTE shows higher when set to towing. Shouldn't the normal setting be higher?

OM is no help.

Any ideas?

Probably because it calculates the distance based on your driving history. If you haven't used it in towing mode then it has no basis for what the trailer is doing to your MPGs. You might have to tow a complete trip with it set for Towing so the computer can learn what your towing and get an estimate.

That's what I was thinking, but I just came back from a long tow trip. I changed the DTE back to normal, and the DTE lowered.

I believe it recalculates when driving after making the change. This is what I noticed.
