You really don't need a bypass filter to be honest. These trucks do just fine with the factory set up. I have 400K on my daily driver and almost 300k on my wife's truck and those are running just fine without any extra filtration. Done many oil samples and compared to other samples from trucks running bypass filters...no apparent difference.
We also have quite a few of these trucks in our work fleet....none with bypass filters and no engine related failures yet.
Seriously. No reason to over complicate things. You are just going to waste your money by adding stuff that your engine doesn't need. These things last for a very very long time with the factory oil filter system so not sure what there is to gain by adding extra filtration. Add another filter if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside but your truck won't care. It will run just fine with or without it.
Here is my Amsoil bypass system. The second photo shows where it is mounted right under the drivers door sill behind the wheel well. It's horizontal mounting is not ideal but it doesn't show and doesn't catch rocks. The first photo shows it's connections to the engine.
I went with an Amsoil system because I am an Amsoil dealer and I won't recommend a product I have not tried and tested myself. I also run synthetic oil and wanted to take full advantage of the ability to extend oil change intervals. I used analysis from 2 labs, Oil Analyzers Inc. (Amsoil's lab) and Blackstone to see if there was any possible bias. Both labs provided consistent results and based on those results I was able to run 15k miles on an oil change. Interestingly enough that is what Amsoil claims their oil is good for in our engines. I still would not extend oil changes without UOA (Used Oil Analysis) no matter what the supplier claims.
As I said above, If you decide to go that route, I have a spare filter head that I took off a truck I'm selling.

Well ~ I plan to put a Frantz oil filter on this Ford F150 5.4 ~ ("Just got it ")~ I've used them since they first came out ~ put them on both daughters cars ~ they are great ~ I have gathered a few of these filters over the years ~ they do work ~ the engine runs in clean oil continuously ~ I'm looking for a place to install one ~ doesn't look like one can go in the engine compartment ~ we'll see ```
