Ambient Temperature Sensor

My gauge inside my 2006 F-350 is starting to become inaccurate. It started out a couple degrees off now it's running 10 degrees off. So I think it is time to replace. I went searching online and I'm finding different types of sensors that are offered and sensors that don't look the same. So can anyone point me to the correct part number that I need to replace?

Also from what I read the sensor is located next to the radiator on the driver's side behind the grill. Is that correct? Follow-up is removal of the grill fairly easy. I assume so, but didn't know if there were tricks or things to be on the lookout for.

Thanks

Yeah, unfortunately that is a newer truck then mine and I know that the sensor isn't located in the mirror (I don't have the mirror listed in that post). That probe looks familiar but I'm finding didn't versions and pictures that don't match what is listed in that post. Hence the question for the real part number.

F87Z-12A647-AA is the part number that pops up on the Bluerock Auto site that I had bookmarked for my 2006 F350.

I could see the sensor on the 2006 just inside the front grill on the driver's side.

It might have gunk build-up on it or just corroded.

So I replaced the sensor and now it works but works incorrectly. The starting temp is still off but as the temperature of the engine heats up so does the temp reading. It was 77 degrees out and it was reading 112. Is there any recalibration that needs to be done? Do I need to disconnect the batteries or is this just my luck that I got a new bad sensor?

I know when I replaced the sensor on my 08...I had to initiate a system self test/calibration before it would read properly. I did this with the EATC climate controls.....If you have the EATC dual zone climate control in your truck..I can look up how to do it....may be the same for your truck?

I don't think the 2006 has this. How did you go about doing the self test/calibration on your truck?

Well I think I found the problem, wrong info stated above. The part number is NOT F87Z-12A647-AA (at least for a 2006 F-350), it is AE5Z-12A647-A. Guess I'm out $25, but hopefully someone looking for this part will see this before ordering the wrong part.
