Question Optimal Hitch Installation

I just bought a 1974 Ford F-100 with a utility bed, and I was going to see if anyone knew what the best way to install a regular trailer hitch would be. I am thinking about just bolting one on through the pre drilled holes, but wanted to hear others' opinions.

I would bolt on the frame and cut the bumper as needed. Guess it depends on how heavy you are going to tow and how sturdy the bumper is.

^ Same here, frame mount receiver kits are pretty cheap and stout, I'd bolt one up and notch out the rear plate on your body to fit. BUT, it kinda-sorta looks like that one had a pintle plate on it once - old lineman's/telephone body? Seems like most of the old pole trailers had pintles on them. Search ETrailer, I believe they make a ball mount that bolts to the same pattern as a pintle, if it looks like everything is beefy enough back there. I just like receivers - I have to switch hitches fairly often from ball sizes to tongues to clevises, it's just easier and more modern/normal.

Without actually seeing what's behind the step area that certainly looks like they had a pinto hitch style bolted there.
