Hey guys haven't posted in a while, but maybe someone could give me some direction with this.
I have been looking for a 73-79 F150 4x4 for a while, one came up on craigslist a couple days ago. I have seen it around a few times at shows, it looks like a good truck. I am not to familiar with what to look for or what they sell for. I don't want a project and this looks pretty much done, just want to get in and drive. This is the post, like I said new to this so any suggestions would be awesome.

If it's already got rust bubbling over the rear tires it's only going to be a year or two before it's a project that you don't want. I wouldn't even consider paying $16,000 for a truck that has rust on it. That's just me. It's also hard to get a good read on it with all of the pics that are sideways in the post.
That is kinda what I was thinking, but I might go look at it this week after the rain stops... Where do you think I should start or end up price wise. I will try to get some better pics for reference. I don't want to insult anyone when I make an offer, then they might not even want to talk...
That's about a $7k truck in California, without the rust. There's nothing unique about the truck, they're a dime a dozen (unless you're the seller). The guy spent all kinds of time and money on it I'm sure, but that's not your problem.
My best advice is to get one from a western state, find a way to make that work. I bough a junk/parts trunk that had been sitting for 15 years in Southern Oregon and you could eat off the metal floors. I have seen quite a few crew cabs, with Cummins, in similar shape sell for this price, or a tad less, around Northern California.
Redding, CA Craigslist is a good place to look. I live in the area, if you are interested in one, I can probably help you out.

Yeah I see a ton of them listed on the west coast, mainly WA & OR, not many over here. most than half of them on the east coast are just not even worth the time to look at they are so bad. I just thought for where I am I would be looking around the low to mid teens from what I see out there. I will let you know what I see when I see it...Thanks
I agree with others on the price. Good looking truck that will continue to need some work. Probably why he is selling. People get tired of throwing money at the truck and then try to recoup some of the money.
The rockers look funny, almost looks like body filler in one because of the sharp edge towards the back, maybe just poor metalwork. Check the quarters under the flares, might be old bodywork letting go. Check the roof around the visor, those things hold water and will cause the roof to rot faster than anything else. Are those stacked blocks in the rear? Not worth $16K.
Just my opinion but I've purchased some trucks in better shape that that for less than $10K. Price seems a bit high to me given what I've seen in the picture. I'd keep looking.
It's a nice truck. He likely has $16K in it, but you hardly ever get your money back from these old trucks. Anything over$10k should be in mint condition. I would say its a $8K truck. At the end of the day, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.
16k and rust NO WAY NO HOW. NJ or not. Lock in lock outs on the front axle and looks to have a NP-203 full time xfer case in it. Hope they did the xfer case part time conversion correctly.
