I am looking at a 79 Ford F150 custom. It has a 302 in it and absolutely no rust on it. The truck is in amazing shape and has 174,000km on it. The guy is asking $2800 for it but I am sure that I can get it down. How much would you guys pay for a truck like this. I will post some pics in a minute.
If its truly 100% rust free and in over all generally good condition including tires, glass, etc. with no major mechanical problems I think it`s a fairly decent deal.
See at first though I thought that too Ryan, but if the thing runs like a dream, maybe has some performance parts on it, dual exhaust,a built c6 trans, that stuff would add up a little.
I am going to have a look at it this weekend. The guy selling it used it daily but I need to hear it run as well and check everything out. My wife actually took the pictures so I have to get up close and personal to see for myself.
2800 is alot of cash. I forget how much Colin paid for and sold his for but don't think it was near that
I paid $400 for mine and the motor was $500 and the tranny rebuild was $300 and another $100 for odds and ends and I sold it for $1900. If it was in good shape and didn't need anything somewhere around $2000 would be a good deal I think.
For a 2-wheel drive like that, I wouldn't pay $2800... that's for sure.
If the body is in decent shape, it's worth a bit more just cause a rust-free box and cab are VERY hard to find in these parts.
I'd pay $1,500 - $2,000 ... depending on engine and tranny condition.
Any idea what its got under the hood?
And just as a reference... I paid $300 for my truck. It barely ran when I bought it... transplanted 351W from a 72 Ford Galaxy and FMX transmission (the tranny leaks like a rain gutter).
The cab corners were gone, box was in a small accident (drivers side dented), and corners were gone...
Recently, I bought a decent box that needs very little fixing for $750. And I bought a rust-free cab with rust-free doors and all the fixings inside for $750. The cab is a Lariat with A/C, tilt column, cruise control but had no seat inside.
Engines in these parts (Regina) are worth around $100-$500 depending on who you talk to...
Trannys are worth $150-$300...
Just thought I'd give you a heads-up on what I've been doing with my summers in the last 2 years.
Post up some more pics so we can see what it looks like all-around?

Gotta ask ya Colin...
What engine and tranny were you running?
Where did you get your engine and tranny rebuilds done at?
And what did you have done to them (full rebuild/new parts/freshen-up only)?
The engine (300 I6) was from a wrecker and was to have 72,000k on it and a friend of mine and I did the tranny (3sp with OD, std). The engine was a good one lots of power, good mileage and didn't use a drop of oil. I am still kicking myself for selling that truck, that was so dumb.
I keep hearing that those I6's are fantastic engines. Never owned one yet, but I look forward to finding a truck with one in it.
Sounds like it was a great truck and you got some decent money for it. If I ever sell my truck, I hope to get some a similar price to mine plus a little extra cause my body is in great shape now that its got better metal and Lariat badges
