I had a 2001 F250 crew cab 7.3 diesel that had the famous "front end" sag. I replaced the front springs with F450/F550 front springs. It seemed to have lifted the front end.
Now I have just purchased a 2004 F350 crew cab 6.0 diesel and the front end seems to be lower than my previously mentioned F250.
What can I do to lift the front end an inch or two?
get a leveling kit. i think it picks the front end up about 2". not sure what brand is the best though so you might want to do some research. also check with the dealer and make sure they wont void any warranty's. dealers suck like that
With only two leafs up front you may get a real soft ride but to low for me and way to much push in hard corner driving. I put one add a leaf up front and it lifted me 2.5" just level with the back of my 03 F-250 6.0. Your F-350 sets higher in back by 2" or so the fronts are the same.
I had 305-70-16 tires at that point but wonted a bit more so I put 315-70-16 on stock rims and added a short 3 leaf pack(1.5") under the add a leaf and a 2" block in back, looks great lots of comments.
I think on F-350 they sugested a short 4 leaf pack (the longest 10-12" long get shorter from that). The best part this short pack doesnt make a stiffer ride. The pack came with four leafs so you can use one or all four.
I got the add a leaf from a local spring company ($225 installed) and the short leaf pack from Roll-A-Long in Corona CA.($225 and I installed) they specialize in Ford only they get the truck direct from the factory and add all the goodies before it hits the lot. I think that any spring company could get or make the short leaf pack, stock leafs are fat in the middle and thin at each end the add a leaf I use is the same thickness all the way. Hope this helps.
Ihave camper package on my F-250 4x4 and it was lower in front by about 3". I have not seen a truck with snowplow package but it adds "auxiliary springs and steering damper" it may set more level. I think this package is only with 5.4L gas engine effective 12/1/03 for some reason.
If You want to lift but not to the extreem use air bags I installed my air suspention out of my 1989 F250 4X4 srw into my 2003 F350 4X4 drw and I can change the height by at least 3 inches front or rear.
Was it hard to install the air bags? I have seen them on the rear of pickups but not in the front. i have a 03 4x4 i would like to do that too. where is a good place to get them and how much are they??
I picked up the air suspention localy in Ed. AB. Canada Complet kit front and rear plus compressor and gage switches were right around $1300.00 Canadian easy to install took about 5 hours for both. than the compresor and the switches.
Anyone here about "Hanger" leveling system for the front? I guess it retains the orginal springs but with a new bracket (hanger) where the leaf end attaches to is lengthed by ?? inches to give you a 2-2.5 inch lift in the front. Not sure what the advantages are. I too am looking at a slight lift in the front but nothing over 2.5 inches.
I seen one from Fab Tech last week and it looked good they offer it in blue or black powder coating. The 2001 and new power stroke has a new gaurd under the radiator that makes the hanger or shakle kit about $300-400. Some have used the kit for the 2000 and older because they did not have this cross bar and it is less money but meens removeing your radiator gaurd. Both work like your old hot rod style longer shakle to raise your rear end.
