It shifts into fourth yet any type of load and it lets go of the gear. is there any kind of band adjustment or is this a rebuild situation?
she grabs the other gears just fine and there was no metal or other debris in the pan when I changed the filter (save for the expected light sludge found in the bottom of the pan but nothing to indicate a major malfunction.
It seems this transmission is not regarded fondly by anyone I have talked to and the general remark I get is that spelled backwards it is D.O.A. and that is for a reason. If this is so any suggestions on swapping it out for a different unit would be great.
Try adding a little bit of slack to your Throttle valve cable. This is located on the throttle along with your throttle cable and cruise control if so equipped.
These guys do alot of mods to the AOD. several on there are way smart. They've helped me alot.
The TV cable/Rod adjustment is very important for the life of the tranny. All it takes is about a block of driving with it way off to toast a tranny.

In the mean time I have moved on the the AC (dealer installed) wow I am ready to push this truck off a cliff. I can't say enough about dealer only parts.
I think I am going to pick up a junk yard AOD and toss it in and get a rebuild kit for my current AOD unfortunately at 100 miles a day on the freeway I really need that fourth gear sooner rather than later.
