drivers side rear blinker won't work with my running lights on. Everything else works fine. I get a solid light on the interior dash. Front drivers side blinks but rear does not. Any ideas?
Sounds like it's the bulb. Does the brake light work? The bulbs are dual filament. One is for the brake light, the other is for the tail light and signal. Remember, the key must be on for the brake light to work.
the passenger blinker comes on dimly with the drivers side blinker engaged. While the running lights are off. Brake lights work with and withoutout running lights on. Hazards work with running lights off
Here's a schematic for the signal and brake lights for a '66, maybe it will help.
The only place the left rear blinker uses anything unique is in the turn signal switch under the steering wheel.
The brake lights use mostly the same circuit as the rear blinkers.
Power does come from the light switch, but it's the same source for both blinkers and the brake lights (except power to the brake lights goes through the stoplight switch while the blinker power goes through the flasher).
Ok, brake light and signal light are same filament. Tail light is second filament. (My earlier statement was incorrect). Therefore, the brake, signal and hazard lights share the same wiring.
Sounds like a loose ground or wire possibly at the signal switch (or the switch itself) since you said it will light both signals at the same time (although dim)
Something is touching where it's not supposed to. The tail lights have nothing to do with the brake/signal/hazard lights. It's a completely different power source. It's almost sounds as if something is arcing over the running light switch and is creating a blinking (running) light. Dumb question but have you changed the bulb? Are the correct filaments lighting when supposed to. When the signal blinks dimly is it the same filament that is the brake/signal/hazard? Is this a new problem or did the PO mess with the wiring?
I'm blaming this one on my meds today. Brake lights and signals need key on (same circuit). Tail lights and hazard lights no key.
I'm gonna take a nap.
