Excursion Price Info

We always see Diesel Excursions for sale with what seem "ridiculous" asking prices and lots of folks offering opinions on "how much" whether selling or buying.

I'd like to give State Farm Insurance a 2 thumbs UP for working through the process of repair - totaling - and then agreeing to repair my Excursion after Hurricane Irma hit Orlando in September 2017.

While researching "replacement" Excursions and trying to have an idea of the "value" of my own Excursion, I wanted to share some of the info I found, and specific info about my Excursion's valuations, as a service to help others with "real" info from various sources.

I started with KBB "private party" price for my 2WD 6L 148k Miles Excursion => $14985.
My Ex is EB with all the options (Quad Seating) - EXCELLANT condition.
Originally a Texas Truck then in FLorida - NO RUST (other than a light coating the drive shaft)

Initial Insurance "value" (the amount of their first offer) $17,225.
So, KBB about $2500 UNDER valued.

next step, was to review with the Insurance folks to modify their "condition"
for a vehicle with 148k miles. Nearly every item on their evaluation list was "shows wear, minor damage" - essentially what many vehicles with 148k miles look like. But, FTE Excursion owners are FANATICS with their vehicles!
So, after upgrading everything to "very good/excellent" condition their new "valuation" was $17,693.

Then, they processed all my receipts and pics (see my sig) they called back, and admitted they were surprised, they now offered $22,137 (plus taxes/fees since I'd have to re-pay taxes/fees on a new vehicle, new total $23,318.

At which point I said, well now it's worth enough to repair !!!??

YES, we've already informed the body shop to go ahead with the repairs.

So, DO those upgrades, keep your receipts, replace that worn seat cover, etc.

I believe, if I had *NOT* found FTE I'd have NEVER KNOWN about upgrading my Excursion and I'd be driving this today - and probably discovering WHY all these repairs needed to be done in the first place (NOTE: Never got any responses from voicemail or email asking about this vehicle)
KBB on this Excursion is $17K (it's 4wd)

Thanks TO ALL FTE Members for posting all the great things we do to our Excursions.

That's great news and congrats. The leg work you put forth is worth it. I've been concerned about being put in your position if I was to be involved in an accident. Your post will be helpful to others. Sounds like insurance was pretty reasonable before you had them adjust the conditional ratings. Even better after.

Excellent information. Glad it worked out for you.

I've kept everything on a spreadsheet along with receipts.

Everything I do to a car/truck gets put in the book with the owners manual in the glove box.

This is reason I was able to get nearly $3,000 over nada value for my 96 Explorer totaled in 2011. That was after my buy back price!

Very glad to hear your Ex will be repaired.
