I was detailing my engine this afternoon and made my way to the air filter. The thing was very dirty. So I sprayed it down with the hose... Would be alright to put back in a little wet so I can drive to the part store and get a new one??
I would strongly sugest that you not only, thow out that filter and replace it with a k&n.And if you have not yet replaced your airbox with an aftermarketyet i would do that asap.while your under the hood check your airbox for a dirt reidue. You may have the beginning of a dusted engine! Good luck susana

No flame intended, but if he puts in a K&N, he will for sure to have
a dusted engine, due to the dirt a K&N filter will pass!!!
Stay with the OEM filter to keep your engine clean!!!!!

I agree that the filter MUST be replaced, but I would not use the K&N or some of that dust will get into the engine. I posted this numerous times before, but K&N filters are not a good match with a turbo diesel. Cummins, one of the most respected names in diesel engines, says specifically NOT to use a K&N filter because it can cause damage to the engine.
Sorry i guess I should not so hastily have answered as to replace with a k&n filter,I dont have anything bad to say about the OEM filter. Its not the problem behind these dusted engines. My oppinion is you should be the most concerned about your airbox, and check it frequently for dirt passing the filter.
