I've had this problem for awhile, but decided to see if you guys could figure it out. My air filter gets dirty, I mean nasty dirty after about a week of running. I probably put on about 2-300 miles a week. I also just put a remaned motor in and a remaned 1bbl. Any suggestions on what it could be?
Boomer fingered this one out!!! I bet your truck starts like ##### in the morning, because of lack of air flow. I bet you changed everthing and still have the same problem. I even guess everyone pointed you in all the wrong directions. You know why? They don't own a Ford with a six!!!! Well, I'll bet dollars to donuts that your heat riser valve is leaking and/or you have small cracks in your exhaust manifold. When the truck is cold all these cracks are leaking carbon until she warms up. I bet your truck runs fine when she is warm! The carb sucks all this ##### up and you have a black, smelly air filter in days!!! Solution: seal all cracks in manifold, or seal off air cleaner totally. I added a vent hose on my snorkel, and my air filter is like new two weeks later!!! You can thank me anytime.
