Paint Color

Could anyone tell me what the original color of my truck was by this vin plate ? Someone painted it before I got it,and I would like to go back to the original color. When I took the fenders off it looked like a blue color.

It doesn't appear to have a color code. You may have to scout around with a little sand paper. It was probably something like a fleet order in a non-standard or special order color. My book doesn'r explain the DSO but ND and a couple others know what that means and I think that has something to do with it, but doesn't tell the color.

I was wondering about the special order or fleet. I don't have much to go on but a couple of pics. I just got it back from the blaster and dropped it off at the body shop so it is all bare metal now. Maybe I could just go with a color I like instead of original. Here is a pic of original color.

DSO is a special paint order (Domestic Special Order I think) So whatever you can find under any respray might be the color it was ordered in. DSO makes your truck kinda special, but can also be a pain when you're trying to repaint it to original spec.

COLOR code is blank, DSO code has 4 numbers, denoting a Domestic Special Order.

When there is no COLOR code stamped on the Rating Plate, the truck was painted a non standard color per the original purchasers request, making it a Domestic Special Order.

The blue looks like a repaint. The grey might have been a military spec. It seems like I've seen old Naval vehicles that color. What color is under the data plate?

I took the plate off and it is the light blue like the side of the cab was. I think I have decided to go with a blue color I like. I think it would be to hard to match the original.
