Hi guys,as title says i have 7.3 97 e350 empty van.and after removing cat and muffler.ive received constant 0472p ,changed ebpv sensor and tube.didnt changed anything.
problem is it struggling to go uphill.feels like tranny cant do it anymore or so.doesnt slip shifts great but kinda cant transfer power to wheels.engine revs hard.fluid is pink, fresh.
also metal to metal scrapping noise after first start for like few seconds in doghouse.what it could be?
Thank you guys, sorry for broken sentences, didnt managed to write properly in english yet.
7.3's have issues with their exhaust systems, primarily the up pipes tend to leak causing loss of power. How are yours? Also the induction system leaves some to be desired so is your air filter clean and unobstructed?
Lately the 7.3 has been getting lots of press info for improvements, mainly focused on pickups but the vans would most likely benefit also.
I didn't know the 7.3 had a catalytic converter. My 99 SD F250 doesn't, never did. Low fuel pressure will do it too. As will a bad turbo, a leaking aftercooler and also a weak high pressure oil pump. Extended oil change intervals (thin oil) and dirty fuel filter can be suspect as will a clogged in-tank filter screen
