Need a trans or a rebuild.
3yr 75k warranties from AutoZone & Orielleys at around $2,000
Local tranny shops 12mo 12k are $2,300-2,500.
ATS, Suncoast, Jasper etc... are all out of the price range.
O'Reilly's carries Power Torque.
Autozone carries National & Alltrans.
AutoZone says of the 8 Alltrans (3yr unlimited mile) they have sold in the last 5yrs only 1 had to be warrantied & Alltrans shipped a replacement the same day the claim was made.
Anyone have experience with these transmissions or have experience with a transmission shop around/near Cleburne or Hillsboro TX ?
My thoughts is if you want to not have to pull the transmission out again it may be wise to get the best transmission you can afford. I have purchased parts from discount auto parts only to have to pull them out again on my time. I no longer buy parts from them and go for quality. I hate doing the job twice.
I agree with the quality parts idea just wondering if anybody knew the quality of Alltrans.
Autozone does stand behind their warranty but this is something they have to order from a 3rd party so the warranty goes thru the 3rd party.
Autozone expects their parts to come back & I don't wanna have to pull it again. But with a 3yr unlimited mileage warranty, somebody has faith in there product.
Didn't think about the 10% military disc.
Thanks for the thoughts y'all. Now looking towards a used recently rebuilt unit with the rest of the truck still attached. However it's an e99 & mine is a late model 99. If I remember right the early ran the E4OD & late has the 4R100. I've read the electronics (shift sylonoids (my smart phone can't spell it either, lol)) use the same wires but the plugs may differ.
Depending on the specs of your vehicle, the truck is only worth $2500-$5000 according to NADA. Do you really want to spend the entire value of the vehicle on repairing it? You can trade it in and get a nice discount on a cheaper vehicle.
Bought an e99 4x4 with a rebuilt tranny.
Time to convert my 2wheel to 4c4 which is what I wanted in the beginning. Bought the 2x cause it was affordable at the time.
Both are 4d short beds. Shouldn't be too hard to swap or at least that's what I'm hoping for. I've done this conversion in an F150 before & had to have a rear shaft made for it.
