More than likely the price difference is engineering and marketing.
Both might be made out of aluminum but more than likely, one copied said step from the other and at the same time, they added their own twist to it to make it unique to their name or brand. Or, what some brands do is contract another brand to make the same item but with their name on it. Very common and has been done for many years now on many products.
