Question..why do the majority of people refer to Big Bronco's as SUV's? I don't know about most of you, but I consider that to be an insult to my TRUCK! Is the Big Bronco really considered a SUV? Hell, it's even referred to as a SUV on my title. I'm confused....
I get pissed at people who call it an SUV and I tear em a new one. It's no SUV, it's a TRUCK! Why is it a truck? Cause it's not all pansy like an SUV, a Bronco CAN actually go ANYWHERE, plus it's big, rugged and tough (including looking) and it just isn't a car for wussies or stay at home moms who need a grocery getter.
To combat the SUV point, no one ever stares at SUVs, but I see people staring at my Bronco all the time whether I'm in it or not. Too bad I wont have it for a short while sicne my gas pedal broke, heh ehh.
When I registered my bronco at the DMV I tried real hard to register as a truck. I put up a fight with the woman (her Kelley Blue Book listed it under truck) and made her double check with the guy next to her. I ended up not getting the truck license plate though. So according to the DMV the Bronco is a "Pleasure vehicle", but so is every other car on the road.
Up until its fateful parting from Fords factory line in most articles I have seen they were always refered to as OHV's (Off Highway Vehicles) and ORV's (Off Road Vehicles) and this was by prominent magazines. So when people say SUV I tend to correct them and I hate it when its called a Jeep too, and Im a former Jeep owner.
Here in california I'm glad my truck is not listed under truck. Why you ask? the California Comercial Vehicle Tax this is a tax levied on all trucks here no matter if they are used for comercial uses or not. Just another way for Sacramento to ream us here in Ca if you ask me.
Case in point, I had an 84 Crew Cab dually that had 235,000 miles on it back in 96 each year I was still paying over 300 bucks to register the dammed thing.

In Ohio if you have the rear seat removed you have to buy TRUCK plates for about $45 year. But if the rear seat is installed it is refered to as a STATION WAGON!!!!!!!!!!! but the plates only cost $32 year. And my 88 is listed as a Station Wagon on the title.
Well I'm nuetral on the subject, but i would have to side with SUV like it or not, The bronco was replaced with the expedition witch is a suv and if you jack it up it will go any where too. hell if i jack up a car and put a front axle and transf case under it it will go any where too, the bronco dosent have an open payload/cargo bed, a truk does, i dont think ford intended for the top to be removed when they made it, there for it wasnt intended to have a open cargo area so its not a truck.? But heres the real botom line, WE love'em, WE hate'em, WE drive'em ANYWAY! Mine is a 4X4, grocery getter, family transportation, recreational vehicle, tow truck, and at times a PAIN IN MY A..!! but it mine and im gon drive it no matter what you call it! DW
