Suv??
In conversation, however, I still refer to it as a truck.
S-sport= arent Broncos sporty? cant they be used for sports and recreation?
U- utility= one of the definitons in the dictionary is (usefull or being of use) now corect me if im wrong but is'nt the bronco usefull?
V-vehicle= here again i just could be wrong but is'nt the Bronco a motor (vehicle)????
Lets recap, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE
if drives like a SUV, and it runs like a SUV, looks like a SUV, and is a pain in the *** like a SUV!
Then it must be a SUV!!!!!!!
Seabiscuit
OK, let me go on record here. You have met the Iowa truck criteria. Actually, they classify Broncs as trucks in Iowa apparently. 35 bucks a year for license. I'm thankful for that. My wife's car costs me over 5 times that much.
"A type of pick-up truck with an attached camper shell and seats in the cargo bed.
Never intended for passenger use on the highway, is cheaper to manufacture due to loophole in federal laws regulating passenger safety. Despite the manufacturing economy, one of the most expensive types of motor vehicles to own and operate-high accident and theft rate, low re-sale value, and poor performance and fuel economy.
Prone to roll over and kill all occupants from something as simple as a failed tire. The lack of structure mandated for real passenger vehicles allows the 'SUV' to cave in upon rollover, while even the cheapest passenger car is legally required to have a roll cage in the roof structure.
Marketed as a more cool replacement for the minivan or station wagon. Often seen in news reports as the scene of multiple fatalities resulting from a blown tire. There is a new generation of vehicles marketed as suv or hybrid vehicles, these are not as dangerous, being based on minivan or car chassis-engineered for use on paved surfaces."
Now, does that suggest the Big bronco is a SUV?
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
How many trucks you seen designed from the factory with a removable top w/rear seat? It's not a truck. (Yea i think the 1978 was built on the 1973 pick-up design frame - but the bronco is not a truck)
Arn't we talking 'bout the first generation full size bronco, not a truck. Yea, the lawsuits and lobbiest started fmc down a path of a non-removable top SUV and hince now soccer mom can get from here to there with out worry of the hair doo...........and does not have to worry about the hassle of breaking a nail on a manual lever to move the seat forward to load the kids in the back. My 9 year loves our broncos - even when helping work on them he, he, he.....(cause he knows "daddy lets me drive"
I've owned fords, chevy's, dodges (ok, still do) in my life and the 70's bronco, blazer, ramcharger, jeep cj, scout are the original SUV's IMO THE KING OF SUV's
Like I said,
I was SUVing when SUVing wasn't cool
Man i miss my '66 bronco RIPOh, i do sometimes call it (them) "my truck"
Now - fire away
Think Ill just keep calling it a Bronco.
However, i'm not a chicken and refuse to live up the the media crap of the bad rap for SUV's
MrRottnDog,
I like the whell chock in the drive way........... COOL - And what needs the chock
AT times i've call mine words i'd never heard of untill that moment. DW
Me too DW most of the time its just wh0r* though. LOL

Sorry mom, i'll never refer to it as a SUV or TRUCK anymore - as bubbles blow from my mouth
HMMMMMMMM,
Move a refrig - THAT'S WHY I DRIVE BRONCO'S - can't take the top off this weekend - might rain - SORRY
Huuummmm removable top gone tailgate down looks like a truck. Dont think a refridgerator will stand up in the back of any suv I've seen built lately. Or is it just a convertable, I mean their tops come off too. So maybe its a car. Im so
Think Ill just keep calling it a Bronco.
I think you nailed it. The damn thing is a car. When it rained in the back of my F150, there was never any fabric damage that I recall. And nothing I ever loaded in the F150 ever slid forward and hit me in the back of the head while I was driving either.

Pretty darn good thread BTW.
